Advanced course (second degree)
An advanced course (second degree) incorporates socialization and obedience in a tougher environment. Obedience exercises from the first degree are upgraded and more demanding and new ones are learned. It consists of 14 „school hours“ (45 minutes).
The first two hours are bound into one, and they are framed within a theory class. In it, all of the topics which will be done in practice are covered. It also covers topics concerning dogs which the guides who have completed the beginner's course are able to understand and apply with ease.
The next 11 hours are all practice. They incorporate obedience exercises within a tougher environment (change of location, more distractions, etc.). Aside from that, socialization is still worked on in the group with tougher and more demanding tasks.
The final class is devised as a test of everything that has been covered throughout the course.
The whole course lasts for about two months and its duration depends on the weather conditions.
The price of the advanced course is 800 HRK.
There are no age, gender nor breed restrictions (the dog needs to be vaccinated against rabies, and needs to have a chip implant, according to the law).
In order for the handler and the dog to get into the advanced class, they need to finish the beginner's course prior to that. Those who have passed the beginner's course in a different school, or consider themselves to have successfully learned the things covered in the beginner's course, need to get in touch with us so we can send them a list of the exercises which are tested after finishing out first degree in order to get into the second degree. A few days before the course begins, they will be asked to execute the exercises with their dog in front of two course managers – examiners. After they have successfully finished their exercises they can be directly enrolled into the second degree.
The course involves the handler working with his dog alone. The groups are of different sizes, depending on the number of the attendants, but they do not involve more than 10 attendants. The course manager teaches people how to make exercises with their dogs.
Dogs with minor behavior problems will be evaluated before the course, and according to the evaluation and the guide's agreement, will be worked with through a program that has been adapted for the dog. All evaluations and decisions are done by the course manager. His decision needs to be respected and followed.
Dogs with major behavior problems will also be evaluated and, if it is not possible to work with them in the beginning, will be recommended a different form of work (individual work with our managers, or a recommendation of one of our associates - instructor who has more experience with those kind of problems).
We are looking forward to spending time with you and we hope that you will be pleased with our classes!
Practice is held in the center of the city of Rijeka.
Within this course the place of the classes will be switched occasionally in order to change the overall conditions and the working environment.
